\nAs a \"login shell\", Bash reads and sets (executes) the user's profile\n from /etc/profile and one of ~/.bash_profile, ~/.bash_login, or ~/.profile\n (in that order, using the first one that's readable!).
\nWhen a login shell exits, Bash reads and executes commands from the file\n ~/.bash_logout, if it exists.
\nWhy an extra login shell mode? There are many actions and variable sets\n that only make sense for the initial user login. That's why all UNIX® shells\n have (should have) a \"login\" mode.
\nMethods to start Bash as a login shell:\n\n
\nMethods to test for login shell mode:\n\n
\nRelated switches:\n\n
\nWhen Bash starts as an interactive non-login shell, it reads and executes\n commands from ~/.bashrc. This file should contain, for example, aliases,\n since they need to be defined in every shell as they're not inherited from\n the parent shell.
\nThe feature to have a system-wide /etc/bash.bashrc or a similar system-wide\n rc-file is specific to vendors and distributors that ship their own, patched variant of Bash.\n The classic way to have a system-wide rc file is to source /etc/bashrc\n from every user's ~/.bashrc.
\nMethods to test for interactive-shell mode:\n\n
\nRelated switches:\n\n
\nWhen Bash starts in SH compatiblity mode, it tries to mimic the startup\n behaviour of historical versions of sh as closely as possible, while conforming\n to the POSIX® standard as well. The profile files read are /etc/profile\n and ~/.profile, if it's a login shell.
\nIf it's not a login shell, the environment variable ENV is\n evaluated and the resulting filename is used as the name of the startup\n file.
\nAfter the startup files are read, Bash enters the POSIX(r) compatiblity mode (for running, not for starting!).
\nBash starts in sh compatiblity mode when:\n\n
\nthe base filename in argv[0] is sh (
\nNB: /bin/sh may be linked to /bin/bash, but that doesn't mean it\n acts like /bin/bash
\n)

\nSpace Shuttle Discovery (Orbiter Vehicle\n Designation: OV-103) is one of the orbiters from NASA's Space\n Shuttle program and the third of five fully operational orbiters to be\n built. Its first mission, STS-41-D, flew from August 30 to September 5,\n 1984. Over 27 years of service it launched and landed 39 times,\n gathering more spaceflights than any other spacecraft to date. The shuttle\n has three main components: the Space Shuttle orbiter, a central fuel tank,\n and two rocket boosters. Nearly 25,000 heat resistant tiles cover\n the orbiter to protect it from high temperatures on re-entry.
Discovery became the third operational orbiter to enter service, preceded\n by Columbia and Challenger. It embarked on its last mission, STS-133, on February 24, 2011 and\n touched down for the final time at Kennedy Space Center on March 9, having\n spent a cumulative total of almost a full year in space. Discovery performed\n both research and International Space Station (ISS) assembly missions,\n and also carried the Hubble Space Telescope into orbit.
